I’ve had a lot of truly wonderful days in my life, but few moments surpass the joy of seeing my children choose Christ. The past 15 years have been filled with tears, prayers, and countless reminders to trust God. Through it all, I’ve learned that the deepest desire I can have for my children isn’t for them to have prestigious careers, big houses, or even to achieve the so-called American dream. My prayer has always been simple and profound: that they know Christ.

This Sunday, that prayer took a tangible form. I had the incredible privilege of baptizing our daughter, Lily, and her boyfriend, Jonas. Over the past few months, I’ve watched their lives reflect a sincere desire to put off the old and embrace the new. Their choice to follow Christ publicly is a testament to their faith and a joy beyond words.

To celebrate a decision to begin a new life in Christ is to celebrate real joy—the kind that comes from seeing God’s work in the hearts of those you love most.
